I was a little familiar with this Stand Up Paddle Board (aka SUP) craze, but I didn’t really grasp why. I’m not much into water sports like I was when I was younger (not that much younger…) but still, this didn’t seem overly appealing. Looks nice to cruise around, but we have kayaks & that’s got to be more fun, right??

Well, the Battle of the Paddle has come and gone, yet another year. This was my 3rd BOP California that I have competed in. My first BOP was in 2009. The year of the waves! I had only been SUPing for a few months when I raced and took 3rd in the elite and first in the distance, I was stoked!!! Last year, I placed 2nd in the elite, and 1st in the distance, stoked again!

September 17th&18th Weekend Race Recap

Well, this weekend was completely awesome from the SUP race perspective. There were two events this past weekend, the Hennesseyʼs World Paddleboard Championships and the Surfrace to Victory, both events were killer for two different reasons.

SUP Magazine SUP Awards

In the tradition of the SURFER magazine SURFER Poll Awards, sister publication SUP magazine is set to host the inaugural SUP Awards to honor the best of the stand-up paddling (SUP) industry. The event is set for September 22 at the historic Casino San Clemente and plenty of local athletes are in the running to be recognized.
